Coffee Klatsch | Principles GI Coffee House, Gowanus

Wednesday, July 26 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Free

Coffee klatsch – meeting for coffee and conversation. Each week, we meet at a different cafe, either a new spot or an old favorite, drink and share coffee, and chat – about the coffee and whatever else. Any and all welcome.

This is the last klatsch before a summer hiatus, picking up again at the end of August or early September. We will also being saying farewell to two of our fondest companions who are heading back to their homeland after a six month coffee sojourn in New York City.

Principles GI Coffee House is a multi-roaster shop that showcases the widest variety of different coffee roasters and crazy ferments, not just as espresso and pourovers, but also on drip and iced, usually a different bean and roaster for each. What most shops will serve as pourovers, Katie serves on drip and iced.

Generally at klatsch, people purchase their own drinks and baked goods, and then we share pourovers. This week will be a little different organizationally. Katie, the proprietor, will bring us pourovers in stages, we will all get a taste, and then settle up the payment for the pourovers at the end of klatsch. You can still procure your own baked goods, espresso drinks, iced coffees or drip if you wish. I will be bringing a special treat to share as well to say goodbye to Andy and Gaby.

For this week’s klatsch, Katie, the proprietor, will personally be preparing the following pourovers for us:

  • Caballero, Tim Wendelboe (Oslo, Norway) / washed gesha / Producers: Marysabel Cabollero & Moises Herrera (Chinacla, La Paz, Honduras), $14
  • Saint Gertrudis, Standout (Stockholm, Sweden) / double fermented washed sidra / Producers: Jose Luis Eguiguren, Hacienda Santa Gertrudis (Ecuador), $18
  • Cruz Loma COE #3, Passenger (Lancaster, PA) / washed anaerobic sidra, mejorado / Producers: Familia Morales Rivera (Pichincha, Manabit, Ecuador) $24

On espresso she has Standout Colombia Johnatan Gasca, double anaerobic fermented washed pink bourbon, and on drip / iced, Passenger Brazil Silvio Leite Reserve Lot and Black & White Burundi Gitwe Micro Lot 6 Anaerobic Honey.
